How To Prioritize Self-Care When You’re Busy: 10 Simple Strategies
Dear busy bees,
As we juggle work, family and other responsibilities, self-care can often fall to the bottom of our priority list.
But let me remind you, self-care is essential for your physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
It helps to reduce stress, improve focus and productivity and enhance overall happiness.
Therefore, it’s crucial to make time for self-care, no matter how busy your schedule is.
The good news is, self-care doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive.
You can incorporate it into your daily routine by making small changes throughout the day.
Here are some simple tips that I love to follow to incorporate self-care into my busy life.
1.) Start your day with music
Listening to motivational music in the morning can uplift your spirit and set a positive tone for the day.
I suggest playing some oldies from Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, or the Bee Gees. They always give me a good vibe.
But you can always play whatever feels good for your soul!
Keep in mind, what we listen too has a big impact on how we feel.
So try to stay away from anything negative, aggressive or depressing.

2.) Listen to podcasts while you cook
If cooking is something you love, you can make the most of your time by listening to self-help or knowledge-based podcasts while making your favorite meals.
Sometimes, if I’m too busy, I might not have time to enjoy the whole episode. But I’ll always save it to listen to later at another meal prep.
A couple of my favorites to listen to are “Speaking Of Psychology” and “The Highest Self Podcast.”
3.) Do a social media detox
Social media can be a great way to stay connected, but it can also be a source of stress and negativity.
Make it a habit to remove all things toxic and drama from your newsfeed.
You’ll be surprised how much more positive and productive you’ll feel.
4.) Create a night-time routine
A night-time routine you love is an essential part of self-care.
Try placing a hot towel on your eyes or soaking your feet in magnesium water for 20 mins to relax and de-stress.
You can also light some aromatherapy candles or use a diffuser to promote a better night’s sleep.
Fun Fact: Magnesium foot soaks can help you sleep better!
5.) Practice breathing techniques
Breathing exercises are a simple way to incorporate self-care into your daily routine.
You can practice deep breathing while driving or doing basic activities like walking or cleaning. So no excuses!
It can help to reduce stress and anxiety and improve focus and concentration.
Try the 4-7-8 breathing technique – Breathe in deeply through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7 and then exhale through your mouth for a count of 8. Repeat this cycle a few times.
This technique can reduce stress and anxiety, help you sleep better, manage your food cravings and even improve your immune system.
